When I went the first time in Vienna (for a touristic and not yet an existantial and loving purpose, need), I have visited the beautiful museum of the Belvedere. I will not speak here about the works of Klimt or Schiele and other masterpieces which are in this palace … but about a german-austrian sculptor : Franz-Xaver Messerschmidt, born in 1736.
He is especially known for his character portraits. The expressions are always so extrem. Sometimes funny, caricaturated. Sometimes suffering. He offers us a collection of mood with a great precision.
